Reference this calendar when planning for your next dance social, but keep in mind that we add events to this calendar as we’re made aware of them. Please do your own research with each of the event organizers too!

SML Salsa Co: Dinner & Dance Cruise!
Did someone say dinner AND dancing… not at the lake… not by the lake…. but ON the Lake?! Yup!
We are taking our dancing out onto the water for a night aboard a dinner cruise with buffet-style food, dessert, a cash-bar, and DANCING
We have something for everyone- from beginners who have never partner danced before all the way to seasoned social dancers.
A ticket purchase covers A LOT… so read carefully everything that’s included:
obviously… the cruise itself!

Due to capacity restrictions, we will be split into two groups (Beginners & Social Dancers) as each deck can only accommodate a certain number of occupants. The registration form explains this further if you need more clarification.
Group A:
For Beginners, for those wanting a lesson, and for couples on Date Night who prefer to not dance with other partners. (No partner necessary to join!)

EVERYONE is Welcome at the After Party where we will keep the party going.
Due to capacity restrictions, you MUST pre-register and pay BEFORE May 26th and we will NOT be allowed to accept walk-in’s at the door. We have booked the Virginia Dare Cruises & Marina boat and will be leaving from their marina in Moneta. Exact address will be sent in your registration confirmation. BLLU Bachata Brunch PRIDE EDITION feat. Queer Dance Roanoke & Drag Performances!
Join us on Sunday, June 8th for a Big Lick Bachata Brunch like you’ve never seen before! We’ll be celebrating Pride Month and fundraising for the Roanoke Diversity Center with special drag performances! Guest instructor, Malinda from Queer Dance Roanoke, will provide a beginner-friendly, queerchata dance lesson at 12pm, followed by DJ Perico playing the hottest mix of salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, and merengue until 4pm.
Come out to celebrate each other and the beautiful, vibrant, and affirming dance community we’ve created together, where 50% of all proceeds will go to the Roanoke Diversity Center. Don’t forget to come hungry and check out Sticks & Spoons’ special brunch menu—you won’t want to miss this extra fabulous Bachata Brunch!
Entrance is at the front of the City Market Building on Campbell Ave. Cost is $5 at the door for dancers via cash or Venmo, with free entry for those only ordering food downstairs. Kids aged 16 and under are welcome with free entry, but must be supervised at all times by an adult. The dance floor can be a dangerous place for small kids, and Big Lick Latin Underground is not liable for injuries.

Late Nights: The Art of Salsa
Great music, dancing, drinks, and art – it’s a celebration of summer with Salsa Noke for the Museum’s monthly Late Night event this June!
Get your hips moving with guided dance lessons from Edgar Ornelas, then put your moves to the test on the dance floor. Bring your favorite dancing partner, or make new friends for the evening.
Drinks will be available for purchase, and the galleries will be open until 9 pm.

Join us at Roanoke’s newest venue, the Galleria on Williamson, for a special island-themed pop-up dance social on Saturday, May 31st!
Dress up in your summer island best and join us for a beginner-friendly dance lesson at 7pm provided by Instructor Lisa, followed by DJ Perico's mix of salsa, bachata, kizomba, zouk, and merengue until 11pm! Queer Tango Spring Classes
Embracing one another through Queer Tango is an act of resistance as we continue to fight fascism, racism, transphobia, xenophobia, and all the other bs!
Join Queer Dance Roanoke’s queer tango community in our spring season, embracing connection to one another and our practice of community care. We are thrilled to do this in partnership with the @roadiversity and to support their important presence in our city!
Queer Tango lessons will be co-facilitated by Malinda of QDR and @dance.with.lane We enthusiastically welcome beginners and returning queer tango dancers alike. Come learn the basics of Argentine tango, a dance rich with queer history and growing all over the world today.
No partner necessary! (But you can totally bring your bestie or crush, just make sure everyone registers in advance please! Link in bio :D )
